DETROIT - The results of a study by the Organizing Network of Energy (On E) will be released in the upcoming edition of the Penny Pincher’s Almanac. The study, in light of recent oil prices sky-rocketing, looks at the different ways consumers can save money on rising fuel costs.
“It doesn’t look good,” admits study spokesperson Gus Lurr. “Although, in the end, I think people will embrace the idea as really the only viable economic option.”
The study includes a Top Ten list of ways to save money in the ever rising era of gas prices. Ideas such as filling your tank up at night when the air is cooler, driving a hybrid, and drafting off of semis top the list at numbers 10, 9, and 8, respectively.
The next seven spots are filled with the same gas-saving method: don’t drive.
“If conumers don’t ever get into their cars, they will find very quickly how much money they are saving,” Furr explained.
When asked why certain options, such as carpooling or taking public transportation, were absent from the list, Furr raised a skeptical eyebrow and laughed. “Who wants to get on a bus with a bunch of people who can’t even afford to own a car? That wasn’t even a logical option for us.”
